A forthcoming beginner-friendly workshop series
inviting Greater Houston area artists, farmers, and community members to reflect on their relationships to the land and share knowledge and foodways in order to deepen connections across ethnic and cultural lines.
Finding Seedkin is a continuation of our conversations, we ask ourselves:
From here, how can we continue to challenge dominant mapping processes and power structures? How can we continue to prioritize local knowledge and perspectives?
This eco-printing technique uses plants or flowers transferred onto fabric through steaming to capture visual stories.
In this process, we reflect on the ways the land sustains us; how we can reciprocate care, while addressing environmental and community challenges. This process also honors histories embedded in the land, especially Indigenous and local knowledge.

For lasting, vibrant color, hand wash all products in cool water with a pH-neutral or natural detergent (any free and clear detergent works). Avoid using fabric softeners or bleach. Hand dry in the shade, or to soften, put in the dryer on low heat. Iron or steam if needed. Do not iron on the printed side directly.
Keep your naturally dyed item out of direct sunlight. Most natural dyes are pH sensitive, so be aware that lemon juice or vinegar could change the color of your item.
Due to the nature of natural dyes, each item is unique and may have some variegation created by the plant pigments. Each item is one of a kind. May fade slightly over time.
